NovaraJazz 2007

NovaraJazz 2007 begins with a Roberto Masotti’s photo exhibition at Broletto; he is one of the most important Italian photographers of the show business. The opening night hosts a musical and visual tribute to Piero Piccioni with Enzo Scoppa Quintet; it is a show about relationship between jazz and cinema in Italy. On the stage of Coccia Theater plays Tomasz Stanko in quartet with three amazing young Polish musicians. The protagonist of the New Dutch Swing Ab Baars presents with his quartet a reinterpretation of Duke Ellington’s masterpieces. In 2007 Sabir Mateen arrives in Novara with his quartet; he falls in love with the city and decides to stop for few years. The Festival also witnesses the unusual encounter between Cristina Zavalloni and Gianluigi Trovesi, two of the most interesting personalities of the Italian contemporary music scene. The closure is up to Paul D. Miller a.k.a. DJ Spooky, a genius manipulator of sound and visual material.
