NovaraJazz 2008

NovaraJazz 2008 presents the European premiere of the new William Parker project Raining on the Moon and the world premiere of a project designed and produced by Novara Jazz with the Michael Nyman and Evan Parker duo. Fifth edition goes on with the italian premiere of legendary English singer Norma Winstone in trio with Glauco Venier and Klaus Gesing. It presents also Cuba Social Club Night Afro-Cuban Project by Roberto Fonseca and Fabrizio Bosso. Marcin Wasilewski’s trio is another project designed and produced for NovaraJazz. Stride Summit is a duel on multiple pianos featuring inventions and rapid improvisations with Paul Alderighi, Paul Lhodsky, Chris Hopkins and Dick Hyman. Hyman returns to Italy after 54 years.

A novelty of this edition is that the Broletto main stage is structured with two sets of concerts every night. The prelude to NovaraJazz 2008 is Markus Stockhausen’s improvisation workshop at the Conservatorio Cantelli. The festival has two exhibitions: Chroma. Energia colore musica at Broletto and Niendorf (the damaged piano) showing, that is the tribute to Michael Nyman by Valerio Rocco Orlando.
